The United Nations and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are moving forward with their plan to confiscate your guns.

The United States joined 152 other countries in support of the Arms Trade Treaty Resolution, which establishes the dates for the 2012 UN conference intended to attack American sovereignty by stripping Americans of the right to keep and bear arms.

One week after Mexican President Felipe Calderon stood before the United States Congress and called for a renewal of the Assault Weapons Ban, the Obama administration announced its support for the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. This international agreement poses real risks for freedom both in the United States and around the world by making it more difficult – if not outright illegal – for law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms.

“After the treaty is approved and it comes into force, you will find out that it has this implication or that implication and it requires the Congress to adopt some measure that restricts ownership of firearms,” former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John R. Bolton warns. “The [Obama] administration knows it cannot obtain this kind of legislation purely in a domestic context. … They will use an international agreement as an excuse to get domestically what they couldn’t otherwise.”

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty opens a back door for the Obama administration to force through gun control regulations. Threats to the Second Amendment are as real today as ever.

Establishing the dates for the Arms Trade Treaty Conference is just the first step toward their plans for total gun confiscation. The worldwide gun control mob will ensure the passage of an egregious, anti-gun treaty, and that’s where Secretary of State Hillary Clinton comes into play.

Once the UN Gun Ban is passed by the General Assembly of the United Nations it must be ratified by each nation, including the United States.

Note: the UN Arms Trade Treaty will be drafted between now and 2012, and even if signed would not take effect in the U.S. unless ratified by the Senate.

However, the President of the United States cannot enact a “complete ban” on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. The right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States, and in the 1957 case Reid v. Covert, the US Supreme Court established that the Constitution supersedes international treaties ratified by the US Senate (all treaties must be ratified by a 2/3 vote of the Senate).

Although the proposed UN Small Arms Treaty will not entirely obliterate the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution, it would certainly greatly diminish rights of citizens to keep and bear arms. Once again, allowing the US Constitution to hang by a thread. If passed by the UN and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the UN “Small Arms Treaty” would almost certainly FORCE national governments to:

* Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;
* CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL “unauthorized” civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);
* BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL full-automatic weapons;
* Create an INTERNATIONAL gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun CONFISCATION.
