I enjoy watching a television show just as much as the next person. However, why should I be paying for it; that is the responsibility of the advertisers (commercials). So, about 2 years ago, I had canceled my Satellite Television subscription in lieu for local channels via a digital converter box and antenna. This is saving me nearly a $1,000 per year! Not only that, but it helps to stop wasting valuable time. Instead there are many other useful things I can do with my time.

Obviously, I do not want to be glued to the TV during a time when a show airs since I may have meetings or other activities to attend. So, I have a computer with a TV tuner card, where I can record the TV show and watch it on my own time (and skip past the commercials). After a couple years of not having cable television, I have not missed it one bit.
