I recently received my package of survival seeds from Hometown Seeds. I was thoroughly impressed with their quick shipping and use of sealed Mylar bags for long-term storage. Have you wondered what all the talk is about over non-hybrid survival seeds? During times of severe economic depressions, certain things become extremely valuable: guns, ammunition, food, and SEEDS.
The concept of a survival garden seeds has been around for quite some time. During the extended food shortage, long term food storage seeds, (also referred to as emergency garden seeds) became the solution. The concept is the same as the survival seed bank in Norway, just on a personal level. These are seeds that not only create food for the season; the seeds can be harvested to plant for the next season because they are non-hybrid open-pollinated seeds.

I am going to be buying my seeds soon myself. Not sure which company I will be going with yet but will definitely be checking this one out. Is there any specific seed packages you recommend through this company?
What is the difference between non hybrid seeds and heriloom seeds? Also, do you have different seed packets for the different parts of the country… I live in the deep south and different things grow down here….
Heirloom seed, open-pollinated, and non-hybrid are typically synonymous. An heirloom plant variety is one that has been valued by a family, tenderly and carefully preserved, and handed along from generation to generation. They are open-pollinated seed, not an unstable hybrid, and certainly not genetically modified.
The seeds can be grown all across the country. Different parts regions have different hardiness zones based on temperature/freezes, which determines planting season.
