The United States wasn’t established overnight. We had a long journey to country hood. In fact, the U.S. Constitution wasn’t even written until 1787, many years after the American Revolution ended. It wasn’t ratified until June 21, 1788.
Check out the U.S. Constitution page of The National Archives. You can read the Constitution in its entirety, including all 27 amendments.
There is also interesting historical information about the creation of the document. That includes a detailed article about the Constitutional Convention. Plus, you can download high-resolution scans of the documents.
